QForms
Text block functionality enables users to create documents and correspondence based on pre-defined, reusable text components. Text blocks may contain pure text or may include embedded data fields in the form of variables. Field variables used in Text blocks are either populated through standard ITP data retrieval mechanisms or through end-user interaction. QForms facilitate data collection through end-user interaction. The QForm presents an input field for each field variable that is used in a selected text block e.g. Inception date, Driver’s age etc but is not populated yet.
QForms guiding the users
The content of Text Blocks often changes over time. A short time-to-market is needed for changes to existing text blocks as well as for the creation of new ones. Changing the content of a text block is a very simple task that can be performed by business users in the role of ‘Text Editor’ - if appropriately authorized. QForms offer a means to support the linking of Field variables in text blocks to specific questions in a dedicated ‘Question’ form.
In a QForm, a pre-defined question and data input field is defined for every Field in a ‘Field Set’. A Field Set is a logical grouping of Fields for a business use for example fields for Motor Claims letters. The Text Editor can then use these Fields in an existing or new Text block and the associated QForm will display the relevant question and data input field at runtime. During document creation, only the questions relevant to the selected Text blocks are presented on the QForm to the user for data input.
Changing the textual content of Text blocks becomes even easier if the text editor does not have to bother about the questions in a form. Your benefit: flexible correspondence with a minimum of maintenance and development.
