New Feature: Editable Textblock Questions

Text blocks play an important role as dynamic content of ITP Models. Text blocks are stored in the ITP/MDK Repository and retrieved at the moment a document is generated.

Sometimes, not all the text required to create a document is present in the ITP/MDK Repository as a text block and the user needs to add text during document creation process. Or, a default text block is present but a user should have the opportunity to change the text block while creating a document.  A simple text question is not sufficient because some basic lay out is needed and maybe some variable fields like the name of the customer should be available to add to the text. For such cases, a new type of form question has been introduced: the Editable Textblock Question.

Editable Textblock Questions offer a controlled environment that allows users to edit an existing text block or to create new text in a text editor. This editor provides basic lay out and, if available, variable fields that the user can utilize. Content can be added or amended during the document creation process thus diminishing the need to edit the result document. The document creation process takes place in a truly controlled environment.

ITP/OnLine 2.2.24, the ITP/MDK Repository 3.2.21 and the ITP Create Model Package 3.2.24 contain beta support for these Editable Textblock Questions. In this beta version, these Editable Textblock Questions are called Advanced Text Questions. Check out the documentation of the dynamic forms editor and the documentation of the FORM keyword in the model developer’s help for more information. We are pleased that the Editable Textblock Question is an enrichment of ITP.
