New Release 3.5

Currently, the Research & Development team of Aia software is working on release 3.5 which will be due in Q1 2009. A lot of new functionality has been added since release 3.2. This article only highlights the most important changes.

Business managed

Efforts have been made to make business users in control of the (content) of their documents. New developments that support ITP Models being business managed are the new objects Content Wizards, Text blocks, Forms and QForms. Main characteristic of these objects is their user friendly GUI and their dynamic behavior: a change to any of these objects does not require recreating and deploying a new version of the ITP model.

With the ITP Toolbox in the ITP/MDK Repsitory it is now possible to drag and drop fields and functions from the ITP Toolbox to the Microsoft Word document.

Dynamic labeling

Dynamic labeling: New functions pagestyle and stylesheet have been added to the ITP language to support dynamic multi labeling (white labeling). Depending on the label that is passed to the document, the correct pagestyle document and stylesheet document are dynamically applied to the document

New connection

A new connection has been added to ITP/Server: the XML MQ Connection. The XMLMQ connection, i.e. XML over MQSeries, communicates with an XML Service using IBM MQSeries as the transport medium.

ITP/OnLine Server application integration

Every ITP Model run will now also result in a metadata XML. This metadata XML contains some general metadata, the answers given in the FORM questions and content wizards and some user defined metadata. The file name of this metadata xml is passed to the procesresult exit point.

New exit points ModelRunCompleted en ErrorOccured have been added.

Extensions and improvements to the ITP/MDK Repository

Improved Search: Searching the Repository objects has been improved. Search now finds more types of objects, such as Text Blocks, Views, Field Sets, and (Q)Forms. It is now also possible to perform a full-text search in the content of documents and Text Blocks and to search for Labels and Characteristics.

Copy: The ITP/MDK Repository now allows objects to be copied, be it documents, folders, objects or complete projects. Please refer to the manual for more details.

Support for OpenOffice.org: The ITP/MDK Repository now also supports OpenOffice.org documents and supports using OpenOffice.org
The improved authorization mechanism makes sure that users only see object to which they are authorized. Objects to which they have no authorization at all stay hidden.

Unified logon: To log in to the ITP/MDK Repository, `unified logon´ (also known as 'single sign-on') can be used. In that case the user name of the Microsoft Windows account, with which the user is logged on to Microsoft Windows, is also used to log on to the ITP/MDK Repository. This logon is performed automatically when the ITP/MDK Repository Client starts.

Word processor support

Support has been added for the Office 2007 binary format, the OpenOffice.org OpenDocument file format and OpenOffice.org 2.x.

Miscellaneous

Secure mode: Custom ITP/OnLine applications can now be configured to run in Secure Mode. A Secure Mode custom application can be used to safely expose ITP/OnLine to the Internet.

XMLWEB over HTTPS: The XML Web Services connection can now be configured to use https to access the web service securely.

Suspend/Resume: ITP/OnLine Server now supports functionality to suspend a model run and resume it at a later stage.

Support for XPS: Commands have been added to the ITP/Server scripting language, which allow use of the Word 2007 XPS export feature.
