Gmünder ErsatzKasse implements ITP

About GEK

With about 1.5 million customers Gmünder ErsatzKasse GEK (www.gek.de) is one of Germany’s largest health insurance companies. Especially for health care insurers, service is of the utmost priority. Individual documents, tailored specifically to the customer, are important tools to provide the best service. To create documents GEK first used IBM OfficeVision/400. "When IBM no longer supported OV/400, we had to find a substitute that could create our documents with at least the same performance but with more ease of use" says Ernst Essig, Leiter Organisation und Bürokommunikation at GEK.

Choosing ITP

In the process of looking for a new solution, ITP went trough extensive tests and was compared to other solutions. Essig: "ITP impressed us the most. During our comparison, it soon became clear that the performance was extremely high. Also, because ITP is based on Microsoft Word, our users had no problems switching to ITP".

Positive experiences

GEK was highly prepared before converting the high complex OV/400 documents to several ITP variants. Essig: "The adjustable and extensible conversion tool was very helpful in converting to ITP. About 300 ITP model documents were tested extensively, results were compared and essential adjustments were made. The conversion to ITP was a great success."

Manageability

Model documents are centrally developed and managed. GEK was very enthusiastic about the extensive layout possibilities, which ITP offers when creating a model document in Word. Essig: "Creating a table with OV/400, for example, was a complex and time-consuming job. Using ITP, they were easily integrated into our correspondence."
