Aia Software joins the Mainframe Migration Alliance

Nijmegen, November 2008 - Aia Software, producer and supplier of the ITP Document Platform, recently joined the Mainframe Migration Alliance (MMA). This membership enables Aia Software to share knowledge about migration projects with other members of this growing business-to-business web community. Worldwide, organisations with mainframe systems are investigating the possibilities of migrating to solutions on a Windows platform, in order to cut costs and to create a more flexible attitude towards market changes. The ITP Document Platform is a good replacement for mainframe legacy systems like AFP or Calligo, which are traditionally used for document creation.

The character based mainframe systems hamper organizations to use Microsoft Office Word for document generation. ITP solves this problem and is a flexible alternative for these legacy systems. Besides ITP can also be coupled to the mainframe systems, thus enabling organisations to maintain their investments and at the same time profit from the benefits of document generation on a Windows platform.

The Mainframe Migration Alliance  is a group of companies working together to help customers migrate workloads from a mainframe to the Microsoft platform. The members have their interests aligned in making legacy modernization easier and more efficient for customers. Members include Independent Software Vendors (ISV’s) who offer tools to mainframe customers that are considering, or in the process of, migrating to Windows platform. Other members are System Integrators (SI’s) who provide migration services to mainframe customers.

The primary function of the MMA is to provide a community for ISV’s and SI’s”, says Paul Dirven, CEO of Aia Software. “With this membership the MMA offers us the possibility to educate SI’s about our products and to share knowledge with them. Thus we are able to bring the knowledge about our ITP Document Platform with the members of the alliance to a higher level. Otherwise SI’s offer us valuable information about the need for migration services in the market. We consider our membership with the MMA to be a positive development.”

We are pleased that Aia Software has joined the Mainframe Migration Alliance, remarked Scott Rosenbloom, director of the MMA at Microsoft Corp. “Aia Software’s expertise in document composition is a critical component in helping clients migrate to the more flexible Windows platform.”

The primary tool of the MMA is the MMA website at www.MainframeMigration.org, which provides a central location for migration related information. Microsoft and the MMA-partners are directing mainframe customers to this site to find answers to many of their questions. Over 30.000 people visit the website every month.
