SDU Publishing Company and Aia Software offer e-forms for local Authorities
Nijmegen, 12 April 2005 - SDU Publishing Company and Aia have signed a Letter of Intent to deliver and support e-forms to Local Authorities. Aia’s versatile ITP Document Platform makes e-forms available in a web browser. The use of e-forms enables Local Authorities to communicate quickly, accurately and economically with its citizens, business customers and suppliers, as well as internally.
Communications between citizens and local authorities are typically expensive, time consuming and labor-intensive paper-based processes. Internet-based e-forms, however, enable a citizen to make requests for services or to provide information directly to the Local Authority, thus enhancing the process in terms of availability, efficiency and simplicity as well as enabling significant cost savings.
Recognising the above, many Local Authorities are seeking to deploy e-forms in the near future. The Balkenende Administration, for example, have an action plan entitled ‘ Another Government’ according to which 60% of all of the public forms should be available through the Internet.
The key objective for the partnership between SDU Publishing and Aia Software is to provide forms developed by SDU and delivered via Aia’s ITP Document Platform as internet-based e-forms to all Local Authorities. These e-forms will be continuously updated to comply with the latest legislation.
The first practical step in achieving this objective will be a pilot project, commencing in May. The subject for this pilot will be SDU forms dealing with alcohol legislation, driver’s license application and a GBA abstract, which will be delivered as e-forms by the ITP Document Platform to participating Local Authorities via a special website.
Both SDU and Aia believe that through their cosoperation they will fulfill the growing demand for Local Authorities to significantly improve their communications and to reduce cost through the medium of internet delivered e-forms.
