WindowsEnabler/400

Many organizations work with business solutions on their AS/400 iSeries that use the power and reliability of this environment. Next to that, they like to use modern applications like ITP on Windows platforms. To integrate these worlds, we offer our WindowsEnabler/400 product, which allows you to start workstation tasks directly from your AS/400 application programs.

In an AS/400 environment using IBM's Client Access/400 or another PCO capable terminal emulator, the command STRPCCMD is available to start programs on the PC. This command, however, does not integrate well with the Microsoft Windows operating system. Integrating workstation tasks with host programs is very difficult without complex middleware.

WindowsEnabler/400 offers a unique solution to this by providing you with host commands to start programs on a Windows based workstation:

You can start programs from an interactive job on the workstation of the user. We call such a PC a WindowsEnabler/400 client PC. You can use this ability to integrate your interactive host applications with PC applications such as ITP or a word processor.

You can start programs from arbitrary jobs, on a dedicated PC. We call such a PC a WindowsEnabler/400 server PC. You can use this ability to allow green screen users access to non-interactive PC applications, such as ITP or perform certain non-interactive tasks, such as printing documents.

In other environments, such as Mainframe, Unix variants or Linux, WindowsEnabler/MQ can be used that provides a generic MQ Series interface.
