Before installation

The ITP/MDK Repository consists of three installation programs and a database. The first program is the ITP/MDK Repository Server to be installed on a server. The second program is the ITP/MDK Repository Client to be installed on all clients. The third is the ITP/Create Model Package that needs to be installed on the server. The ITP/Create Model Package contains the programs necessary to create ITP Models. ITP/Create Model Packages come in versions, just like ITP/Workstation and ITP/OnLine Server. Which ITP/Create Model Package you should use depends on the version of the ITP Software you use to run the Model, e.g., if you use ITP/Server 3.2.1 to run the Models you should not use a more recent ITP/Create Model Package, otherwise it might not be possible to run the models.

The ITP/MDK Repository Server uses a central database to store all its documents and settings. It uses ODBC to connect to this database. The ITP/MDK Repository Server installer provides the possibility to install Microsoft SQL Server Express 2005. An installation of Microsoft SQL Server Express 2005 requires Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 and Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1. Microsoft SQL Server Express 2005 is a limited version of Microsoft SQL/Server. It is highly recommended to only use it for initial setups and tryouts.

If you use the ITP/MDK Repository to develop Content Wizards, you need at least version 4 of the ITP/Server to be able to use them.

Note

When upgrading an existing installation make sure you have a recent copy of the database.
