Clean up project

The clean up process allows you to free up space in the database by deleting items no longer in use. The items are actually only marked for deletion. To remove the deleted items definitively, the administrator needs to run the Purge action. Deleted items can be restored as long as they are not purged. However, Labels that are deleted by the Clean up project action are irrevocably removed immediately.

The window

There are two kinds of objects you can remove:

You make your choice by selecting a radio button to the left in the dialog.

Clean up old revisions

When Clean up old revisions is chosen, the box containing the choices Select on version label and Select on date become active. You can choose to remove revisions based on their major revision number or you can choose to delete revisions that are older than a set time.

Select on version

Select on version means select on the major number of the revision. The major part of the revision number is the first number. This number can be increased with the New Major, Action menu item. All revisions in the selected project with a major revision number lower than the number you enter with Select on revision will be removed.

You can use this method of cleaning up the ITP/MDK Repository when you increase the major at certain marked points in your model development process. For instance, when you increase the major when the ITP Models go into production, they can be removed when they are no longer in production.

Select on date

When Select on date is selected you can enter a number. This number determines how many years or months or weeks or days a revision must be old before it is removed.

The date used to determine if a revision must be deleted is the last date that this revision is saved.

Clean up unused labels

Unused labels are labels that are no longer assigned to any item in the selected project. When this option is chosen the ITP/MDK Repository will filter for these labels and delete them.

Note

Labels cleaned up this way are gone immediately, without needing to run Purge first, and with no means to restore them.
