A lot of attention in the design of ITP/Server has gone to implementing a range of safety and load balancing features to make it as robust a production application as possible. The load balancing features make ITP/Server infinitely scalable; you can add ITP/Document Processors and even extra machines to cope with a given load. You can add tasks that ITP/Server can perform by adding Services.
Jobs can be submitted in several ways to ITP/Server using TCP/IP. A collection of APIs, a COM library and several clients are available as well as an Online extension (the separate product ITP/OnLine Server) that offers interactive ITP/Server capabilities from a browser.
