To retrieve data from databases both ITP/Workstation and ITP/Server use a Connection layer.
Using this layer, ITP can communicate directly with a wide range of databases and other data storage formats.
The following ITP Connections are available:
AS/400 Connection
|
Provides access to ITP database entries that describe AS/400 programs or AS/400 database files. It is also possible to access external functions that are implemented by an AS/400 program. Connections to the AS/400 are established using the TCP/IP protocol. |
Oracle Connection |
Provides access to ITP database entries for Oracle SQL statements.
|
XML Connection
|
Provides access to ITP database entries that describe (parts of) an XML file. ITP uses its own very rapid XML parser. |
XML WebServices |
Provides access to Webservices that are able to provide XML data over an HTTP connection. This can be used, for example, to access data in a SAP application system. |
ODBC Connection |
Provides access to ITP database entries for ODBC SQL statements. Also supports stored procedures. |
Mainframe Connection
|
Provides access to ITP database entries for Mainframe programs. The Mainframe Connection requires MQSeries communication or an SNA connection to the Mainframe that provides the CPI-C API. Use of the CPI-C API is deprecated and consequently it will not be supported in future versions of the ITP software. |
Local Connection |
Provides access to ITP database entries through a local dynamic link library (DLL) or executables. |
The Connection Configuration Window is used to configure the connection layer. This window is accessible from the ITP Administration program.
