The functionality provided by ITP/Server is defined in Services. Each Service offers a type of task. Requests submitted to ITP/Server are always submitted to a certain Service so that the required task is performed. One of the tasks a Service can perform is to initiate and control the ITP process of producing output (documents) that incorporates data from a possible variety of databases. ITP/Server comes with a number of Services ready to use, but you can also add your own Services.
