Install the Repository Microsoft Word template

ITP Model Documents can be created from within the ITP/MDK Repository. The ITP/MDK Repository uses a template in Microsoft Word to accomplish this. It is called repository.dot. It contains the ITP Styles and ITP Styles Toolbar. The repository.dot is a Microsoft Word template and can be edited to reflect company styles. Repository.dot can be found in the install folder of the ITP/MDK Repository Server. It needs to be copied from the install folder of the ITP/MDK Repository Server to a location on the network that is accessible to all clients of the ITP/MDK Repository. The clients need at least 'read' rights on this location and 'write' rights if they must be able to edit the template.

  1. Locate repository.dot in the ITP/MDK Repository Server folder on the server.
  2. Copy the template to a location that can be read by all ITP/MDK Repository Clients on your network.

After the template is copied, the path to it must be set in the ITP/MDK Repository. This can only be done when you are logged on as administrator.

  3. Start an ITP/MDK Repository Client, ITP/MDK Repository in Start > Programs> ITP MDK Repository.
  4. Log in as the Administrator.
  5. Go to the Action menu.
  6. Select Change Document Template.

The window Select Document Template will pop up. This is a standard File Select Window of Microsoft Windows.

  7. Find your way to the template, select it and click Open.

Note

The path to the template is stored in the ITP/MDK Repository itself. The template itself is not stored in the ITP/MDK Repository.

Note

If the path is not set or the ITP/MDK Repository cannot find the template at the specified location, the local normal.dot will be used to create a document on a client.
