In this how-to document you can read about the functionality ITP offers to support dynamic multilabeling; also referred to as multibranding or individual branding. This document assumes you have an up-to-date and working ITP/OnLine Server and ITP/MDK Repository setup available. It is accompanied by an ITP/MDK Repository export file that contains all example files mentioned in this document. As a customer, you can download this file with the name Multilabeling documentation project.zip from the ITP log in section of our website:
http://www.aia-itp.com/en/top/login.html
Then, go to the section Examples and select "Project for multilabeling documentation".
When a company offers products under different brands, dynamic multilabeling offers the solution to make the correspondence exactly fit the visual brand language designed for each individual brand. The model developer does not have to maintain multiple instances of the document content anymore. In other words, the content is completely separated from the lay out instructions and the content can be reused for all brands. This minimizes the effort for textual changes, makes it easy to add a new brand, simplifies switching from pre-printed paper to full-color printing and shortens time to market.
Since release 3.2.19b ITP contains a new set of functions and configuration options that allow a variety of properties related to the styling of documents to be determined at runtime. For now, this functionality is only available for the Microsoft Word binary format. Support for the OpenOffice.org and Microsoft Office 2007 Open XML document formats will be added in a future release.
Note
To fulfill a multilabeling task knowledge of advanced Microsoft Word functionalities for (the configuration of) sections is required. We advice to use the Microsoft documentation for more information on these topics.
