Run WindowsEnabler/400 in server mode

Note

This is a deprecated feature. It is not allowed and not supported to use this feature to run unattended or batch jobs on a dedicated PC. You may only use server PCs as an alternative for automatically determined client PCs.

"Y" specifies that this WindowsEnabler/400 instance will be used as a server and that it will use a user-defined location identifier instead of a PC/session specific identifier.

If the server model is set to "Y", WindowsEnabler uses the following order to determine which ITP configuration file will be used:

  1. If the Model is ran with a /cfg parameter, WindowsEnabler will use the programs that are related to the configuration file indicated by the /cfg parameter to run the Model.
  2. If no /cfg parameter is given, WindowsEnabler will search for an active ITP/Batch Server 2.1 configuration. The registry key in HKEY_CURRENT_USER is checked. If no configuration file is found there, the key in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE is checked.
  3. If no /cfg is given and no registry keys are found, WindowsEnabler will check the
[ITPWorkstation] section of the win.ini file for the setting ITPSETTINGS_31. If not found it will check the [ITP_CS] section for any of the ITPSETTINGS_21 or ITPSETTINGS_141 keys.

If the server mode is set to "N", WindowsEnabler uses the following order to determine which ITP configurationf ile will be used:

  1. If the Model is ran with a /cfg parameter, WindowsEnabler will use the programs that are related to the configuration file indicated by the /cfg parameter to run the Model.
  2. If no /cfg parameter is given, WindowsEnabler will search for an active ITP/Workstation configuration. First, the registry key in HKEY_CURRENT_USER is checked. If no configuration file is found there, the key in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE is checked.
  3. If no /cfg parameter is given, WindowsEnabler will search for an active ITP/CS 2.1 configuration. First, the registry key in HKEY_CURRENT_USER is checked. If no configuration file is found there, the key in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE is checked.
  4. If no /cfg is given and no registry keys are found, WindowsEnabler will check the [ITPWorkstation] section in the win.ini for the ITPSETTINGS_31 key. If this section is absent the [ITP_CS] section will be searched for any of the ITPSETTINGS_21 or ITPSETTINGS_141 keys.
