Trust Aia as a source for macros on the client(s)

The MDK is the Microsoft Word extension used to view and edit model documents. The Microsoft Word macro security settings can prohibit the MDK from starting because it relies heavily on macros. This happens when the security setting for macros in Microsoft Word is high.

The MDK macros are located in the ITPMDKServer.dot template. Aia Software signed all macros in this template. This means that a solution to this problem, while keeping the security setting on high, is to trust Aia Software as a source for macros.

To add Aia Software to the trusted sources do the following:

Locate the template ITPMDKServer.dot in the ITP/MDK Repository Client installation folder.

  1. Double-click on the template

    A window will appear:

  2. Check 'Always trust macros from this source', and the button Enable Macros becomes available.
  3. Click Enable Macros.

This will add Aia Software to the list of trusted sources.
Microsoft Word will start. You can close it and go back to the ITP/MDK Repository to start the MDK.
