Viewing and editing objects

If we maintain the file-system view for a while, we can show a typical way of working with objects in the ITP/MDK Repository. If you are a new user to an existing ITP/MDK Repository, it probably already contains some projects, folders and other objects. This section explains how you can view and edit them. If the ITP/MDK Repository does not yet hold any objects, you may have a look at the Creating a Project section or the Creating Documents section first.

Note

The ITP/MDK Repository is always installed with the Repository Reports project. Refer to Repository Report for more information on reports.

All objects in the ITP/MDK Repository can be opened in two ways:

When you open an object, the corresponding editor will be opened in view or edit mode. For the different types of objects, different editors are integrated in the ITP/MDK Repository. For documents, Microsoft Word or the Openoffice.org editor will be used, depending on your settings. For all other objects, specially designed editors are integrated.

The moment you start editing an object, a new revision of that object will be created and the object will be locked by you. Refer to Lock and unlock for more information on locking and unlocking.
